Wellington/Wairarapa Farm Day Information
Battle Hill Farm Forest Park is part of the Greater Wellington Regional Council park network. Its 500 hectares combines hill country farming with forestry and environmental restoration. Roughly half of the park is planted in pine, and the rest is pasture land which is scattered with native and exotic trees, and two large wetland areas. 800 Romney ewes and 400 hoggets are farmed on the property, as well as 40 Angus-Hereford cows, 100 deer and 120 goats. Battle Hill Farm Manager, Norm Cobb, and Greater Wellington Regional Council warmly welcome visitors to bundle up the family, pack a picnic lunch and join them out in the paddock. Watch Norm as he shears a sheep, try hammering in a fence post, spot a native duck enjoying the pasture land, watch farms dogs at work, or simply take a gentle stroll through the park.
