Nelson Farm Day Information
Cable Bay Farm is just 20 minutes north of Nelson. The 990 hectare hill country property prizes itself with spectacular coastal scenery and beautiful native forestry. The farms history is interesting as the site received its name when the first cable across the Tasman was laid there in 1876. The original community built an old billiard room which makes up a portion of the shearing shed on the farm today. Ian Stuart runs 1050 breeding ewes and 360 replacements, as well as 55 beef cattle and 600 goats. The Stuarts warmly invite visitors to bundle up the family, pack a picnic lunch and take a walk to see the views or simply to relax and enjoy the magic of Cable Bay.
