Manawatu/Rangitikei Farm Day Information
Just a 15 minute drive from Palmerston North, between Bunnythorpe and Ashhurst, lies Stewart Dairylands. James is the fifth generation of Stuarts to farm the land since the original property was settled and cleared by James’ great-great grandfather David Stewart in 1886. Traditionally, the Stewart family had been sheep farmers, but in 1994 James diversified an area of land into dairy cows and hasn’t looked back since. The family milk 450 Friesian cows twice daily, supplying around two million litres of milk per year to Fonterra. They firmly believe in sustainable land use and farming for the future, winning a prestigious Horizons Region Ballance Farm Environment Award in 2009. James and Debbie Stewart, and the rest of the Stewart family warmly invite visitors to bundle up the family, pack a picnic lunch and join them out in the paddock.
